A change of theme is nigh, as well as a change in color scheme.
Our theme at Jacob’s Ladder Blog in August is “Trusting God when He’s silent”. I chose red as this month’s color scheme, as it not only symbolizes the blood of Jesus Christ, but it represents humanity. In the Old Testament, the word oudem means “red clay” , which in its semantic origins denotes mankind.
Since the Fall of man, humans have struggled on earth. Adversity, heartbreak, struggle, lack – we’ve all been there. If you’re like me, you know from personal experience that the time you spend in the valley can be a lonely one, fraught with pain, anxiety, and worry. In desperation, you throw out your arms and cry out to God to take away the burden that is weighing down your heart. You hold on in rigid faith that your Father, your Provider, your Rock, will answer your pleading and your prayers.
But God remains silent.
However, it is in the silence where God does some of His best work. Though we don’t see it, God is working in our situation; most importantly – God is working in us.
What we need to do when we are stuck in the silence is wait on God’s perfect timing, and trust Him that all things will work out for His good because He loves us (Romans 8:28 NRSV).
Trusting God means having a relationship with Him. Just like you trust your family and close friends as a result of a personal investment of your time, care, and attention, the same things applies with building a relationship with God.
The more we seek God and spend time with Him, the more we learn about Him. We see His goodness, receive His grace, and experience the divine miracles that move the mountains in our life in a way that surpasses any human attempt on our part to solve our problems in our own strength.
If you are seeking God in the midst of your own silent period, we want to encourage you here at Jacob’s Ladder through this month’s diverse selection of content, that you can put your trust and confident reliance in God.

Jacob’s Ladder Bible Studies
We hope you enjoy this month’s content and that it encourages you and emboldens you to lay your trust in God, regardless of how your situation is looking right now.
God is working all things out in your life for His good. All you need to do is trust Him. Even in the silence.
And in the meantime, l hope the following Bible verse gives your comfort:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.“
God bless you and keep you safe.
